Feb. 15, 2013—The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has elected Alice Gannon as chairman of its board of directors.
Gannon currently serves as senior vice president and chief actuary of the United Services Automobile Association (USAA). She is the second woman to serve as IIHS board chairman.
"IIHS research and crash tests have saved countless lives, and I am honored to serve as chairman," Gannon said. "I look forward to partnering with my distinguished board colleagues in support of IIHS's work."
Gannon succeeds Douglas Joyce in the position, who will continue to serve as a board member.
"Alice's strong leadership and depth of actuarial experience will be a tremendous asset to IIHS as we continue to innovate in our research programs to further advance safety on the nation's roads," said Adrian Lund, president of the IIHS. "I am delighted to have her at the helm."
IIHS's new chairman-elect is Jeff Gendron, senior vice president of COUNTRY Financial. The organization's new vice chairman is W. Neal Menefee, president and CEO of Rockingham Group.
