SCRS Quick Tip: Static Control from Start to Finish

Learn why a shop’s standard operating procedure should include static control for every refinish job in less than three minutes.

In this Quick Tip video from Society of Collision Repair Specialists, Justin Lewis of Accurate Auto Body is joined by Claire Cleland of Static Solutions, who explains why a shop’s standard operating procedure should include static control for every refinish job.

Rather than treating static as an occasional issue, she explains the importance of controlling it at every stage, including between coats, because static can continually rebuild through contact, heat, movement, and air pressure. The discussion also covers the relationship between tack cloths and static, emphasizing that static control should be the final step after tacking and continue throughout the refinish process up to clear coat.

The video was filmed at the I-CAR Chicago Tech Center.
