The Most Profitable Types of Body Shops

Independent body shops have every opportunity to turn an eye-opening profit these days.

The 2016 FenderBender KPI Survey shows dealer-owned body shops had the highest percentage of respondents (32.4 percent) generating an overall net profit of 16 percent or higher. But independent, single-location shops are also holding their own these days, especially in comparison to MSOs and franchise shops. Here’s a look at the percentage of shops of each business type that claimed an overall net profit margin of 11 percent or better.
