Sika Automotive Recognized with Best-in-Class Automotive Adhesives

May 2, 2016

May 2, 2016—Frost & Sullivan announced Monday that it recognized Sika Automotive with the 2015 European Award for Product Leadership with Sika Automotive’s adhesives used by OEMs to lightweight vehicle construction.

The award recognizes the quality of a solution and the customer value enhancements it enables.

"Vehicle weight reduction is a complex challenge; creating a lighter body structure often results in increased interior noise and vibration issues, and decreased structural integrity in crash situations," Dr. Leonidas Dokos, Frost & Sullivan vice president of research, said. "SikaPower and SikaSeal are the most efficient BIW adhesives in the market and promise an average of 150 kilograms of potential weight reduction per car, which is nearly 10 percent. 'Lighter, Stronger, Safer, Quieter and Greener' is exactly reflecting the company's focus and key development directions."

Sika’s adhesives also help a vehicle’s functional units, such as engine power and braking systems, while increasing efficiency. Sika also strives to provide customers with proper education to correctly use its products.

"Sika creates conditions for the mutually beneficial cooperation of all market participants—from global companies to private partners," said Dokos. "Investment in the training of customers paves the way for introducing more efficient technologies and improves market penetration."
