Toyota Announces Recall

Feb. 3, 2016

Feb. 3, 2016—Toyota Motors Sales U.S.A. recalled about 320,000 vehicles on Tuesday from the 2003–06 model years for an airbag-related defect, according to a report by Automotive News.

The recall includes the 2003–06 Toyota Land Cruiser, 2004–06 4Runner, 2005–06 Tundra, 2005–06 Sequoia, 2003–06 Lexus LX 470 and 2004–06 Lexus GX 470.

The side airbags on these vehicles deploy from the room during some crashes. Toyota said that “improper programming in the airbag control modules” can lead to the airbags and seat belt pretensioners improperly activating in certain conditions after starting the vehicle raising the risk of injury, according to the report.

Owners affected by the recall will be notified via email.
