Jan. 19, 2010—AutoMD.com, a free online automotive repair resource, launched Tuesday.
The website is designed to provide vehicle owners with the best and most affordable way to make auto repairs.
AutoMD provides vehicle owners with a diagnosis of auto body and service problems, cost estimates, how-to-repair instruction guides and information for local repair shops.
"US car owners spend over $200 billion in car repairs every year, " said Shane Evangelist, president of AutoMD and CEO of US Auto Parts Network Inc. "Based on our research, we estimate that American consumers are wasting billions of dollars by overpaying for repairs.”
AutoMD estimates car owners overpay repair shops an average of 10 percent.
“Until today, car owners have not had access to a truly unbiased and comprehensive free auto repair resource that operates both as an advocate to assure that they're not over-paying for repairs, and are finding the best, most affordable shop for their needs,” Evangelist said.
AutoMD allows vehicle owners to understand fair pricing, and do for car owners what Kelley Blue Book has done for car shoppers, Evangelist says.
AutoMD.com is a wholly owned subsidiary of US Auto Parts Network Inc., a Carson, Calif.-based supplier of aftermarket automotive parts and accessories.
