March 28, 2018—FedEx Corp. announced Monday its reservation for 20 Tesla semi trucks, which are scheduled to begin production in 2019.

The Tesla trucks were unveiled last year.

The full-electric trucks will be operated by FedEx Freight. Tesla says its trucks will include surround cameras, onboard sensors and automatic emergency braking.

Jim Kolea, president of PennFleet Corp, says he has spoken to tesla to keep up-to-date on the OEM specifications.

Now, some of Kolea's customers have had electric and CNG in their fleets making deliveries.

"It's definitely going to mean that existing shops need to upgrade some of their equipment or new Tesla shops added based on the number of vehicles," he says.
