A study published Tuesday found that the rise of electric vehicles could put as many as 100,000 jobs at risk in Germany's auto industry.
June 6, 2018—A study published Tuesday found that as many as 100,000 jobs in Germany's auto industry are at risk with the rise of electric vehicles, reported CNN Money.
The study was conducted by the Fraunhofer Institute of Industrial Engineering, according to the report. The study said that 75,000 jobs could be lost if 25 percent of all cars are electric by 2030, 15 percent are plug-in-hybrids and 60 percent efficient gas and diesel models.
The study also found the numbers already reflected the creation of 25,000 new jobs needed to manufacture batteries and other components for electric vehicles.
Germany's car industry employs about 840,000 in total, according to CNN Money.
