June 20, 2018—GEICO, the second largest private passenger auto insurer in the U.S., announced at today’s ribbon-cutting event that it will open its newest office in Lenexa, Kan., and plan to add 500 associates during the next five years.

Joining GEICO Chairman Tony Nicely in making the announcement were Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer, M.D., Warren Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, GEICO’s parent company, and U.S., state, county and local officials.

GEICO president Bill Roberts noted that GEICO will begin recruiting soon for sales and service positions in its GEICO Insurance Agency (GIA) operations in Lenexa. Later the company will be hiring claims professionals.

Melissa Gallaro, GIA vice president, added, "We want to point out that no previous experience is required, and ongoing training will be provided. We’re very happy to be here, and we have a lot to offer the new associates who join GEICO.”

Hiring for GEICO’s new Kansas operations will be headed by Maria Scarangella, vice president of talent acquisition and onboarding. Eric Baillargeon will serve as director of the new office.

GEICO is a member of the Berkshire-Hathaway family of companies, which is ranked as the top global insurance group in the world.
