ATLANTA, August 8, 2018—The second day of the Collision Industry Conference (CIC) in Atlanta began with a discussion on two task forces through the education and training committee.
The task forces are dedicated to gathering the required OE lists for training and the training impact.
The committee identified 13 roles in the industry and 62 credentials. The goal is to have a standard set of credentials in which a leader can use at the point of hire.
In a poll of the audience, 57 percent of respondents voted that providing verifiable credentials would increase public perception of the industry.
The governmental committee covered three bills that were prominent in the 2018 legislature, and those included Indiana SB 164, Illinois HB 4926 and Rhode Island SB 2679.
Panelists for the day included Darrell Amberson, president of LaMettry’s Collision, John Eck of General Motors, Janet Chaney with Cave Creek Business Development and Wayne Weikel of the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers.
The day closed with talks about the future of OEM repair procedures and the impact of pre- and post scanning.
