August 22, 2018—A special-use permit for Caliber Collision in Yorktown, Va. was denied Tuesday, after an area body shop employee appealed to the county supervisors, reported Daily Press.

Cynthia Cordle, an employee at Coxton’s Collision Center on Route 17, said Caliber Collision would be detrimental to nearby auto body shops.

“New businesses coming into the county should be an asset, not a hardship on our local businesses that have been here for many years,” she said. “There’s not enough work to spread around as there is.”

Other citizens cited concerns of stormwater flooding and market saturation because of the number of auto-related businesses nearby, reported Daily Press. There are 13 auto-related businesses within a half-mile.
