Ford Planning Electric F-150 Pickup

Ford has confirmed it will be making an electric version of its F-150 pickup truck.

Sept. 3, 2019—Ford has confirmed it will be making an electric version of its F-150 pickup truck. The automaker says it will hit the market before 2022, according to a report by Electrek.

Perhaps Ford's most important vehicle program, the F150 pickup truck, was only supposed to get a hybrid powertrain by 2020. Ford showed one of its electric F-150 prototypes earlier this summer. And, at that time, Ford confirmed the electric model would be out in the relatively near future.

Several other companies are aiming to disrupt this important segment of transportation in the U.S. with electric options. For example, Rivian plans to release its R1T electric pickup truck next year.
