UAW Strike Slows Parts Supply Chain

Oct. 8, 2019—The United Auto Workers (UAW) strike against General Motors (GM) is forcing dealerships and body shops to lean on each other for supplies, per a report by WFMJ. 

UAW workers normally man the automaker's parts warehouses and no one is working there or shipping items out.

Frank Spano, the parts manager at Lou Wollam Chevrolet, said in the report that he is noticing that since the dealership has a body shop, if they're missing a part, he's able to get it but things are starting to run out.

Some dealerships are putting competition aside to keep customers happy. The dealerships use a parts inventory locator to find what they need anywhere in the country.
