Oct. 10, 2019—BMW is issuing a recall on recent models because the display settings can be changed so that the rear camera view is turned off when the car is in reverse, reported Consumer Reports. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) says the issue could increase the risk of a crash and also does not adhere to federal safety standards.

The system could retain those settings the next time the car is driven, according to the report.

For the recalls, dealerships will update the backup camera software.
