Dec. 31, 2018—A raging fire at a body shop in northeast Philadelphia was classified as a three-alarm blaze last Friday, and it led to major road closures in the area.

According to a report by CBS Philly, firefighters were called to All Auto Body Repair on Bennett Road around 9 a.m. Crews arrived to flames shooting from the facility’s roof.

Workers told the TV station that the fire started somewhere outside the facility. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they quickly found difficulty battling the blaze. Because of access to a railroad on one side of the business, firefighters could only fight the fire from three sides of the facility instead of the usual four, according to Philadelphia’s deputy fire commissioner, Craig Murphy.

Over 120 firefighters were needed to eventually control the blaze. And, because of the large response to the fire, nearby roads were forced to be closed for roughly 2 hours.

Kevin Chan of Fire Tech Restoration said the damage to the body shop was extensive. Investigators are reportedly still trying to determine what sparked the fire. No one was injured.
