March 18, 2019—Road construction on Interstate 75 and I-16 around Macon, Ga., is causing significant backups at local body shops, according to a report from 13 WMAZ News.
Dan Stewart, who has worked at Harrison’s Body Shop in Macon for more than two decades, said the shop has been getting a number of vehicles in the shop from damage due to interstate road construction. He claims, as a result of the intense road construction, the shop has seen everything from bumper replacements to broken suspensions.
Stewart said his shop is scheduled out for weeks. And, according to the report, that’s the case at a number of shops in Macon. State Farm agent Janice Roberts told the TV station her clients have become quite frustrated with repair timelines.
Penny Brooks, of the Georgia DOT, said that DOT crews are using signs and other ways to alert drivers to slow down in work zones.
