Tesla Will Receive $2B to Meet Emissions Standards

Fiat Chrysler now says it will pay Tesla up to $2 billion for emission credits.
May 8, 2019—Tesla and Fiat Chrysler (FCA) recently reached a deal to pool their fleet together in Europe so FCA would avoid emission requirement fees, reported Electrek. The European Commission is putting in place an average CO2 emissions requirement of 95g per kilometer in automakers’ fleets next year.
FCA says it will pay Tesla up to $2 billion for the emission credits. The EU allows automakers to pool their fleets to avoid the emissions fines.
FCA plans to have its own electric vehicles in 2021 and it plans to be completely independent by 2022.
