The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD) will be holding a Working Group Meeting to discuss a proposed rule change to VOC Rule 1151, which would impact materials and paint processes used in collision repair, according to a press release.
The meeting will take place on November 7 over Zoom and will seek comments from the public on the development of Proposed Amended Rule 1151 – Motor Vehicle and Mobile Equipment Non-Assembly Line Coating Operations (PAR 1151).
Rule 1151 aims to cut down on volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions created from automotive coating operations that are commonly performed on automobiles, mobile equipment, and parts or components related to automobiles and mobile equipment.
PAR 1151 will aim to update VOC emission limits, address issues with non-compliant reducers and thinners, and transition away from the use of paraChlorobenzotrifluoride (pCBtF or Oxsol 100) and tertiary-Butyl Acetate (tBAc).
Stakeholders at the meeting will have the chance to work with the South Coast AQMD staff on proposed rule provisions, discuss key updates, and to advise throughout the rule development process.
More information on the event and how to attend can be found on SCAQMD’s website.
