The National Auto Body Council recently held a Recycled Rides presentation to give a vehicle to a current military member as well as two families of fallen first responders, according to a press release.
The presentation took place on September 11 at Boone Valley Golf Club in Augusta, Missouri. A golf fundraiser was held, followed by the Recycled Rides giveaway.
Sue Reifschneider received a 2018 Kia Forte LX donated by Allstate and repaired by Schaefer Autobody Centers. She was nominated by The Backstoppers due to her current vehicle being unreliable and frequently needing repairs.
Reifschneider is the window to St. Louis County Police Officer James Reifschneider who passed away after being struck by a motorist during a traffic stop. Following her loss, she raised her three children, with one of them growing up to have a career in law enforcement and a grandchild in emergency medical services.
Cheryl Branson received a 2021 Subaru Forrester donated by Nationwide and repaired by Caliber Collision. She was nominated by Backstoppers due to her current vehicle leaving her stranded several times. She is the window of St. Louis Metropolitan Police Officer James W. Branson, Jr., who lost his life due to injuries sustained while pursuing a stolen vehicle.
Jorden Johnson was given a 2016 Fiat 500X Trekking donated by Farmers and repaired by Crash Champions. Nominated by the Soldier and Family Readiness Group for Bravo Company, 1-138th Infantry, Johnson is a Private First Class in the Missouri Army National Guard. Johnson is in need of a vehicle to maintain his job with General Motors and his service to the Guard.
