Burglars in Oakland, California, broke into local auto body shops by ramming vehicles into the entrances, KTVU reports.
Four businesses in Uptown Oakland were targeted–two of which were auto body shops. The crimes took place at 26th Street near Broadway at 7 a.m. this past Saturday.
Additional surveillance has been obtained that shows the burglars using vehicles to force open metal roll-up garage doors, allowing them to break into four different businesses.
The footage shows three or four individuals using multiple vehicles to break into businesses. According to one employee of a burglarized business, the thieves were wearing all black with face coverings and were not in a hurry to complete the job.
“I don't think they're worried about being caught,” said Emily, the employee. “That definitely makes me angry.”
Giovanna Tanzillo, owner of Uptown Body & Fender, did not experience her business being robbed but is located next door to a business that was.
“When did this start to become this bad? What do we have to do to change things? How do we stop this?” said Tanzillo. “I'm just sad for everything that has happened because Oakland is a wonderful place to live.”
Tanzillo is currently planning to meet with local business owners to discuss what actions to take in response to the incident.
