The National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program has provided two veterans in Pennsylvania with vehicles for transportation, according to a press release.
The vehicles were given away on July 23 at the HighPoint.com 400 NASCAR Cup Series race taking place at Pocono Raceway as part of NASCAR race weekend. It marks the second NASCAR race presentation that Recycled Rides has done, following a presentation during the NASCAR race weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
The two vehicles were donated by Nationwide and Allstate and restored by Faulkner Collision Center. The recipients were chosen by the Valor Clinic Foundation through the Pocono Raceway Military Affairs Department.
The first recipient, Erin, served in the U.S. Navy from 1999 to 2003 on the USS Enterprise as well as working in base security at the Norfolk Naval Station during 9/11. She is a single mother taking care of an infant and attended college following an honorable discharge.
A vehicle was then given to Juan, who served as a U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant for 14 years and earned a Navy Commendation Medal. He served both active duty and reserves and worked his way to becoming a staff sergeant. He lives with his one son in the Pocono Mountain region of Pennsylvania.
