Students from ASE-accredited automotive, collision, and truck/diesel programs were winners at the recent 2023 SkillsUSA competition in Atlanta, Georgia, according to a press release.
Both high school and college students of ASE-accredit programs ranked among competitors and were recognized at the SkillsUSA competition, with students in collision repair programs among the winners.
In the Collision Repair Technology category, the high school level saw Shane Webb of Vanguard-Sentinel CTC-Sentinel Campus winning gold, and Lucas Lynch of Southwestern Community College winning silver.
At the college level, Brandon Nelson of Southeast Technical Institute won gold, Seth Christmas of Utah Valley University won silver, and Winferd Vermillion of Collin College won bronze.
The high school level of Collision Damage Appraisal had Rhett Hylton of Spotsylvania Career & Technical Center winning silver.
The college level for this category included Lauren Lewis of Guilford Tech Community College winning gold, Jesse Manuel of Aims Community College-Windsor winning silver, and Joseph Lytle of Metropolitan Community College winning bronze.
“They have learned skills to enter the workforce as entry-level technicians and are the future of our industry,” ASE Education Foundation President Mike Coley said of the competitors. “Congratulations to the students as well as their instructors who encouraged these students to excel in their respective fields.”
