Thieves stole twelve vehicles from an unnamed collision repair shop in Bradenton, Florida, the Bradenton Harold reports.
The shop, located on the 700 block of 11th Avenue West, had multiple individuals break into the building sometime between 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. on July 2. The perpetrators found the keys to vehicles in the shop and took them.
Around 12:20 p.m., two were involved in a crash in the 700 block of 12th Avenue West. One vehicle caught fire, while the other one had a T-bone collision with a separate vehicle before rolling over into the yard of a nearby home.
Only one of the drivers was caught: a juvenile who has sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive. The other driver escaped, but the one caught will be charged with motor vehicle theft, reckless driving, and driving without a driver’s license. Fortunately, police have recovered all 12 stolen vehicles.
The Bradenton Police Department is investigating who is responsible for the thefts. According to Public Information Officer Meredith Frameli, it seems that the vehicles were stolen by teens and young adults, with many of the stolen cars abandoned nearby the scene of the crash.
