A CARSTAR location in Dalton, Georgia that was recently the victim of flooding has managed to work its way through months of renovations, according to a press release.
The flooding happened this past Christmas Eve as a result of the pipes supplying water to the shop’s sprinkler system busting open due to freezing temperatures.
Over 6 inches of water flooded the shop’s lobby and office areas for an hour before the fire department alerted Owner Jamie White. Fortunately, only the office areas sustained damage, but nonetheless, it was a tremendous amount to repair: the ceiling, floors, furniture, office equipment, and files were all destroyed.
Thankfully, White had been prepared for a future accident after witnessing a fellow CARSTAR owner, Tom Martin, experience a massive fire in his shop several years ago.
“Tom’s experience taught me an important lesson–don’t ever think it won’t happen to you, because it can,” White stated. “I made an effort to get organized, document everything and have a plan just in case we had a disaster.”
After months of moving things around and having to complete administrative work from a 300-square-foot mobile shipping container, the shop is now newly renovated, looking better than ever with new upgrades to its waiting room and offices.
