Pennsylvania high school students learning auto body repair helped restore and gift a vehicle to a local family in need, the Santoga Post reports.
The group of students was comprised of twenty-two high schoolers from Pottsgrove, Spring-Ford, and Upper Perkiomen high schools in Pennsylvania. All of the students had been studying auto body repair at the Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center in Limerick, Pennsylvania.
Led by Instructor Charles “Chuck” Smith, the students repaired a black Toyota sedan over the course of two academic years. With 58,000 miles on its odometer, the car had light rear-end damage.
The class was able to raise funds and gather supplies for the repair thanks to local shops, including Bill Flannery Automotive and Chuck’s Auto Parts Solutions, as well as “other firms and individuals.”
“It was the type of work done in every auto body shop on Ridge Pike, and a chance (for the students) to do something real,” said Smith.
The vehicle was presented at the Western Center’s 2023 Car Show on May 20, where it was given to a mother of three from Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
