The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of Minnesota (AASP-MN) has awarded $20,000 in scholarships to automotive service and collision repair students, according to a press release.
A total of 22 scholarships were given to students in the state of Minnesota, each one in the amount of $500 to $1,500. The scholarships can be used for tuition or tools during the 2023-24 school year.
30 students from 10 different high schools and colleges applied for the scholarships. Applications were reviewed by a group of industry representatives, who evaluated factors related to “scholastic achievement, education and career goals, financial need, and written recommendations.”
Of the winners, 7 were collision repair students: Gregory Arreola, Jonathan Broenen, Julia Swanson, and Tomas Szambelan of Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount; Catherine Jacobs and Peter Rozeboom of Dunwoody College of Technology in Minneapolis; and Cindy McCulley of Hennepin Technical College in Eden Prairie.
The funds for the scholarships were provided by a donation from the Minnesota State I-CAR Committee as well as AASP-MN’s Annual Race for Automotive Education fundraiser. The scholarships are part of AASP-MN’s Automotive Education Fund to support students in the automotive field.
