Toyota Vehicles Unaffected by Kobe Steel Scandal

Following an internal investigation, using data provided by Kobe Steel, Toyota found that there was no impact on its vehicles. 

Nov. 9, 2017— As FenderBender previously reported, many Japanese automakers found that Kobe Steel products were safe for vehicles. Toyota took it a step further and released the results to its internal investigation into the matter.

The automaker found that vehicle quality and performance met its own standards. According to an article by The Drive, the automaker found that there was no impact on Toyota's vehicles. 

The investigation into Kobe Steel has led many automakers to question whether the materials used in vehicles they created, would pose a safety issue for customers.

Specifically, the team looked at materials which included aluminum plates, copper tubes, steel wires, cladding, extrusions, steel powder, and sputtering target materials.

They separated their data based on whether the materials were directly purchased from the producer or purchased via a supplier.

Looking for an impact on vehicles related to materials purchased from Kobe Steel in Japan and outside of Japan, the automaker again found no problems.
