2018 Ford Expedition Sheds 300 Pounds with Aluminum Body

March 30, 2018—The new 2018 Ford Expedition and Expedition Max models feature a lighter aluminum body, reported Car and Driver.
With its aluminum body panels attached to a redesigned steel frame, the new vehicle is said to be up to 300 pounds lighter than the outgoing model.
Yet, the Expedition is bigger—the 2018 short-wheelbase version is four inches longer than before, while the extended-wheelbase Expedition L is one inch longer than the previous model.
The Expedition also features the company's latest technology of Sync 3 infotainment system. There is blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
The twin-turbo V-6 pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
