Study: Hyundai AEB, Safety Features Reducing Collisions

Recent data shows that automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning, both integrated into the Elantra's standard forward collision-avoidance assist, are associated with a 50-percent reduction in rear-end vehicle collisions.

May 15, 2019—The 2020 Hyundai Elantra comes equipped with a new intelligent variable transmission (IVT), and standard forward collision-avoidance assist (FCA), and those features are making a difference, according to new data. 

Insurance Institute for Highway Safety data shows that automatic emergency braking and forward collision warning, which are both integrated into the Elantra's standard forward collision-avoidance assist, are associated with a 50-percent reduction in rear-end collisions.

New standard features of the vehicle include, but aren't limited to:

  • Intelligent Variable Transmission
  • 3.5-inch mono TFT cluster display
  • Hyundai SmartSense features such as: 
    • Forward collision-avoidance assist
    • Lane keeping assist
    • Driver attention warning
