The original 2016 recall covered 2,988 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks due to the risk that a poor electrical connection could cause a loss of power steering.
The federal agency says in documents it is looking into whether or not the Detroit-based automaker needs to recall an additional 115,000 Colorado and Canyon models. The NHTSA’s Office of Defects Investigations says it has received 50 reports of people claiming to lose the electric power steering in “Colorado and Canyon vehicles built outside the (original) recall scope.”
