Nov. 4th, 2019—PPG opened a new advanced coatings lab last week in Cleveland, Ohio, according to a recent story by the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
The new facility sits on PPG’s 42-acre manufacturing and research complex on the west side of Cleveland and includes advanced equipment for state-of-the-art product testing in the categories of strength, flexibility, sound dampening and adhesion for a wide range of structural adhesives, sealants and ancillary products for passenger cars, SUVs, light trucks and commercial vehicles.
PPG’s Cleveland facility employs about 700 full-time staff committed to producing and developing coating layers used by worldwide manufacturers such as Ford, GM, Hyundai, Kia, Tesla, Toyota and more.
“Cleveland has a very strong technical community,” said Gary Bennett, PPG senior global general manager, adhesives and sealants, “and we’re able to pull top talent into our organization.”
PPG officials described the new complex addition as a highly technical, testing-driven facility that they expect will grow as the industry evolves and invests more heavily in autonomous and electric vehicles.
