July 31, 2018—Classic Collision will open its 22nd location on Wednesday in Augusta, Ga. And there's more to come, says Scott Britt.
The new facility is 70,000 square feet. The team purchased an old Toyota dealership, says Britt, director of IT for Classic Collision.
Britt says the team had been looking into expanding into the Augusta market for about a year. The team had used heat maps that include analytical data of median income, how often people will use a body shop and how often people will pay for a repair in order to decide where the new shop should be located.
“We’re not normally looking for a facility that big,” Britt says. “If it comes along then we’ll make it work.”
Other shop locations are up to 40,000 square feet, he says. This is not the first time the company has bought an old dealership for a new location.
The new location is expected to produce an annual revenue of approximately $800,000 per month.
Classic Collision has plans to expand further into Augusta with a brand-new building, he says. The second Augusta location will be located about 20 to 30 minutes away from the one at 3069 Washington Rd.
In August, Classic Collision will open another new location in Sugar Hill, Ga., and then in October will open one in Birmingham, Ala., Britt says.
And the staff has been in the process of being trained to take over the new facility, he says. Once the place is definite, the team will search for a location manager.
For the Birmingham location, a manager is being trained at another Classic Collision shop right now to learn the new process.
Britt says the team relies on finding potential employees through recommendations from their contacts, such as their paint companies.
