LAS VEGAS, Nov. 1, 2017—On the second day of the 2017 SEMA show, AkzoNobel unveiled Carbeat, a system that allows users to check inventory and vehicle status.

Michael Giarrizzo Jr., president and CEO of DCR Systems, presented the system during a press conference and praised Carbeat’s emphasis on lean processes and how it helps streamline processes.

Rather than using a whiteboard and moving magnets back and forth to indicate vehicle status in the shop, Carbeat is a digital system that shows exactly what is going on in a shop. A large touch screen uses columns and colors to indicate the status of various jobs. Activities can easily be dragged and dropped when necessary.

The cloud-based system can be accessed from anywhere and can be up and running in a shop within a day.

“The simplicity of the system is the single most compelling feature,” Giarrizzo said.

Not only does the system show a shop’s workflow, it also collects information that can be used to improve your shop. For example, you can collect information to see how long parts wait time is for a certain OEM or it can be broken down to track an individual technician’s efficiency.
