Rossi, Sherwin-Williams finish first at the 100th running of Indianapolis 500
Indy 500 rookie driver Alexander Rossi won the historic, centennial Indianapolis 500 race (with more than 350,000 fans at the sold-out Speedway), this past weekend. Rossi and his crew, gambling that his No. 98 NAPA Auto Parts/Curb Honda-powered Indy car had enough fuel to last the final 90 miles, finished first, just ahead of his closest competitor, fellow Andretti Autosport teammate Carlos Muñoz.
Both of the Andretti cars gleamed as they crossed the famed all-brick finish line, thanks to the ULTRA® 7000 basecoat-clearcoat refinish system provided by Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes. Rossi’s No. 98 Honda was painted with the Sherwin-Williams ULTRA 7000 refinish system, a versatile solventborne product line that delivers a premium urethane performance to professional painters that always expect the highest in productivity, reduced cycle time and outstanding color match.
According to team owner Michael Andretti, now having won the ‘500’ four times as an owner, "To come home 1-2 was amazing. I don't know what to say -- it's a great day, to be a part of history, to win the 100th running, and to win it with a 1-2 finish is just incredible."
