A 1969 Ford Mustang, owned by Tim Spencer and painted by Jonathan Goolsby of Goolsby Customs Inc., won the second annual BASF Glasurit Best Paint Award at the 2016 SEMA Show.
The car was painted with Glasurit 55 Line “Goolsby Glasurit Gray.” Out of a field of 15 entries, the 1969 Mustang stood out for the best use of color, according to award judge and presenter Chip Foose. “The Goolsby Glasurit Gray was appropriate for the body style.  With the sleek panels and sharp edges, it really enhanced the design of the vehicle,” said Foose. “Goolsby’s paint job was flawless — the Mustang has great gloss, depth and impeccable color.” “We are always striving to be the best,” said Goolsby. “Glasurit’s vibrant colors, excellent gloss and great tech support make goals like this easy to achieve.” The second place finalist was the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro painted in Glasurit 90 Line, “Blue Print,” by owners Jim and Mike Ring from Ringbrothers.  The third finalist was the 1961 Chevrolet Impala “Double Bubble” owned by Joe Horisk and painted by Jim and Jesse Greening, Greening Auto Company, in Glasurit 90 Line. The Glasurit Best Paint Award was created to honor outstanding excellence in vehicle painting using Glasurit 22, 55 or 90 Line products, including primer, color and clear. Legendary restoration expert and long-time Glasurit advocate Chip Foose judged the contestants based on fit and finish, quality of preparation and final presentation.
