Fourth annual Glasurit Best Paint Award won by Greening Auto Company’s 1971 Ford Maverick

A 1971 Ford Maverick owned by Jimmy Shaw and built by Greening Auto Company with Glasurit 55 Line finish, “Glasurit Go Fast Greening Gray,” developed through Color Ideation, was crowned the winner of the fourth annual BASF Glasurit Best Paint Award at the 2018 SEMA Show.

Out of a field of more than 30 entries, the Maverick stood out for its immaculate detail, according to award judge and presenter Chip Foose. “The detail on the Maverick was magnificent,” said Foose. “The Greening team mastered an excellent fit and finish with sharp lines from the doors to the edges. It’s exciting to see builds top each other year after year through the Glasurit Best Paint competition. The care and precision taken on this project is apparent throughout the entire build.”

Other notable finalists for the award included a 1971 Chevrolet K-5 Blazer painted in Glasurit 90 Line “Brazilian Smoke” by Ringbrothers, owned by Susan and Paul Hetterich, and a 1971 GTO built by Roadster Shop in Glasurit 90 Line.

The Glasurit Best Paint Award was created to honor outstanding excellence in vehicle painting using Glasurit 22, 55 or 90 Line products, including primer, color and clear. Legendary restoration expert Chip Foose and long-time Glasurit advocate judged the contestants based on fit and finish, quality of preparation and final presentation.
