Sterling Awards $27,000 in Student Scholarships, Grants

May 21, 2013—Sterling Autobody Centers recently donated $27,000 worth of scholarships and tool grants to seven collision repair students through the Collision Repair Education Foundation.

The Education Foundation said Sterling’s financial support will provide the students with significant assistance to complete their technical education and become capable and efficient members of the industry after graduation.

The winners of Sterling’s scholarship and tool grants include:

– Oscar Casas-Barajas of Cypress College in Cypress, Calif., received a $2,500 scholarship and $3,000 tool grant.
– Adalberto Cardenas of Kennedy King College in Chicago received a $2,500 scholarship and $3,000 tool grant.
– Tommy Love of Monroe 2 Orleans BOCES in Spencerport, N.Y., received a $2,500 scholarship and $3,000 tool grant.
– Jose Zavala of Central County Occupational Center in San Jose, Calif., received a $2,500 scholarship and $3,000 tool grant.
– Keith Totten of Lake Tech Center in Eustis, Fla., received a $2,000 scholarship.
– Amanda Johnson of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah received a $1,000 scholarship.
– Shawn Durante of Lake Tech Center in Eustis, Fla., received a $1,000 scholarship.

“Sterling supports the direction of the Collision Repair Education Foundation, funding the education and tools needed to develop our next generation of collision repairers,” said Nick Notte, president of Sterling Autobody Centers. “I challenge all of my colleagues in our inter-industry community to become involved with the Foundation to create your next group of employees.”
