WIN awards NACE scholarships to top SkillsUSA contestants

Sept. 27, 2011

Sept. 27, 2011—The Women’s Industry Network (WIN) on Monday announced it awarded two NACE scholarships to the top scoring female contestants at the 2011 SkillsUSA competition.

The scholarships include airfare, lodging, associated expenses, and a full access NACE Expo pass provided by the Automotive Management Institute (AMI) and the Automotive Service Association (ASA), according to WIN.

This is the fifth consecutive year that WIN has awarded the scholarships. This year’s recipients include the following:

• Alexandra Domer, who finished in eighth place in the automotive refinishing technology category. Domer graduated from Waubonsee Community College in 2011 with two associate degrees, one in automotive body repair and one in automotive technology.
• Elizabeth Moore, who finished in 10th place in the collision repair technology category. Moore is currently attending the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Houston.

WIN said Domer and Moore will be honored at the ASA industry awards ceremony Oct. 6. They will also receive a 2012 WIN membership.

“The WIN NACE scholarship goes to the heart of WIN’s mission to support and encourage women who are entering the industry, particularly those in the technical ranks,” said Teresa Bolton, WIN’s scholarship co-chair and treasurer. “Surrounded by our amazing WIN members, this scholarship has consistently been a wonderful way to introduce young women to the collision industry.”
