Nov. 30, 2011—American Internet Services (AIS), a provider of enterprise-class data center and connectivity services, on Tuesday announced Mitchell International moved into its Enterprise-Class Lightwave Data Center in San Diego.

AIS said its data center, which is located roughly 10 miles away from Mitchell’s corporate headquarters, provides Mitchell with flexibility, reliability, security and room for growth—along with fixed costs for easier budgeting.

AIS said its established change management and incident management procedures, which were developed using the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) architecture for establishing and operating IT service management, was a key reason the company was selected by Mitchell. ITIL is the global standard in the area of IT service management. It is a comprehensive, non-proprietary and publicly available set of guidelines for best practices in IT service management.

"The company had grown to the point where we began to look for a new headquarters. At the same time, we were seriously considering whether to continue owning our own data center or to partner with a leading industry partner and further strengthen our already best-in-class hosting services," said Erez Nir, CTO of Mitchell. "AIS proposed an ideal solution for us right here in our back yard with the connectivity, flexible power and security we needed, plus we'd be able to maintain the control of the data center as though it were in-house."

"Mitchell had reached a crucial stage with its growing business where it could benefit from working with a trusted partner offering enterprise-class services to alleviate the headaches of maintaining a capital equipment intensive data center," said Tim Caulfield, CEO of AIS. "We were able to map out a solution that let them accomplish their goals and maintain control of their data center along with their operating and capital expenditure costs."

AIS is an enterprise-class data center, cloud and connectivity services company. The organization has data centers in Los Angeles, San Diego and Phoenix. AIS provides security and redundancy for primary and disaster recovery collocation setups, transit and transport connectivity solutions over fiber, copper and wireless, and managed services such as geographic load balancing, Internet firewall security and remote data storage.
