Ron Pyle Resigns from ASA

April 22, 2013

April 22, 2013—Ron Pyle has resigned as president and chief staff executive of the Automotive Service Association (ASA), the organization announced Monday.

Pyle, who has served as president of the ASA since November 2002, said the “transition of executive leadership has been in process for several months.” He will continue to work with the association in an advisory role through the end of the year.

“We know Ron’s decision to step down was made with mixed emotions. We understand his choice and appreciate his efforts to ensure a smooth transition,” said Ron Nagy, immediate past chairman of the ASA. “Consulting with the ASA leadership in the months to come will be of tremendous value to the board and staff of this great association. We thank Ron for his decade of service to the members of ASA.”

Dan Risley, who was appointed executive vice president of the ASA in March, has been named interim executive director.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve an association with the storied history of ASA,” Risley said. “The ASA board of directors is committed to strengthening the association through open communication and collaboration. I intend on helping them fulfill that commitment.”

Risley has served in several collision repair industry positions throughout his career. He most recently served Allstate Insurance Co. for six years as a market claims manager. Prior to that, Risley served as executive director of the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS).

“Dan’s leadership and presence within the auto repair industry are just a few of the underlying reasons we believe he is a perfect complement to ASA,” said Darrell Amberson, chairman of the ASA. “The board looks forward to collaborating with him and leveraging his strengths to better the association and the value our membership receives.”
