AkzoNobel opens 2012 FIT Sustainability award nominations

Nov. 21, 2011

Nov. 21, 2011—AkzoNobel Automotive & Aerospace Coatings Americas recently announced it is now accepting nominations for the company’s 2012 FIT Sustainability award.

FIT—an acronym for focus, innovation and talent—brings visibility to businesses, organizations and other entities that are delivering sustainable and environmentally focused solutions to the collision repair industry.

AkzoNobel said the FIT Sustainability award, first introduced in 2009, was launched to complement the advancement of waterborne technology and promote the many contributions that the collision repair industry is making to generate a sustainable future.

Nominations for the 2012 FIT Sustainability award will be accepted through Feb. 28. Visit sikkens.net to submit a nomination.

“Whether a business or organization is large or small, it’s so important to consider how today’s practices and processes will impact the future of our industry and our environment,” said Mark Milacic, owner of British Columbia-based Mark’s Auto Body, and a FIT winner in 2011. “Each of us has a responsibility to incorporate sustainable practices; by working together we have the ability to make a positive impact on the world we leave for generations yet to come.”

Recipients of the 2012 FIT Sustainability award will be announced July 19 in San Antonio. The announcement will be made in conjunction with the Most Influential Women (MIW) in the Collision Repair Industry awards.

AkzoNobel said this year’s award recipients will also participate in the company’s second Sustainability Leadership Symposium, which will be held July 20. The symposium was established in an effort to bring greater industry focus, understanding and action regarding the subject of sustainability.
