April 29, 2010—The I-CAR Education Foundation gave away 1,000 technician shirts to automotive collision students nationwide.

Funding for the Cintas brand shirts was provided through sponsorships from Bar’s Leaks & Rislone, CARQUEST, CARSTAR, Craftsman, Esurance, and Mopar.

“The donation of the technician shirts to our auto collision repair technology class was a wonderful thing for students,” said Lexington/Richland, S.C. school district director of Career and Technology, Don Lawrimore. “It is both a recognition of their importance and a boost to their pride in the work they perform. These uniforms will give the students a greater realization of how critical it is to be both professional and knowledgeable in their craft.”

Six hundred of the technician shirts were distributed to 30 schools that applied for the Foundation’s 2009 Ultimate Collision Education Makeover grant, 175 will be distributed to all of the auto body and refinishing students competing at the 2010 national SkillsUSA competition this June in Kansas City, and the remaining shirts will be distributed to other schools that have applied for recent grants and scholarships.
