Following his 8-year-old son’s suggestion, a Detroit man is working to patent a vehicle steam-cleaning and detailing business boasting an eco-friendly treatment process that preserves and protects car finishes.
DetailXPerts, created in Detroit in 2006, is dubbed “the ultimate green spa for your vehicle” by creator Emmanuel Williams, an engineer and self-proclaimed steam-cleaning fanatic.
“It made perfect sense to me. The more I though about using steam to clean vehicle exteriors, the more excited I got. There was no down side. Using traditional soap and water or cleaning solutions is harsh on a car’s finish, and car washes, with high-powered brushes and sprays are much too abrasive,” Williams says. “If you are concerned about the environment, and I am, steam cleaning has another upside as it does not require the use of special chemical solutions and uses very little water.”
With franchises available in 34 states, Williams’ business is mobile and simple to operate. With no stationary equipment requirements, DetailXPerts can be operated at parking garages, hotels, country clubs or shopping malls.
