Forbes magazine has named the Akron, Ohio-based Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as one of America's most trustworthy companies. Goodyear ranked sixth on the magazine's second annual listing of companies with market capitalization of $5 billion or more, which was released online last week. The list is based on Audit Integrity Inc.'s independent research and evaluation of the transparency, reliability and risks of corporate accounting and governance practices.

"This recognition is very meaningful," says Robert J. Keegan, Goodyear's chairman and chief executive officer. "We have worked hard over the past few years to build a world-class organization with a focus on both corporate accounting and governance. The world has now begun to recognize that something special is happening at Goodyear."

The distinction is the fourth significant honor for Goodyear in 2008. In March, the company was named the world's most admired company in the motor vehicle parts industry by Fortune magazine. In February, The Wall Street Journal recognized Goodyear for leading shareholder return for the past five years in the automotive category. Also in February, Goodyear was ranked among the Top 100 Corporate Citizens selected by Corporate Responsibility Officer magazine.

"These four independent rankings are powerful indicators that our strategy is working," Keegan adds. "They also serve as an incentive to our associates to continue to build upon the momentum that we have driven."
