Strattec Security Corp. received two Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Global Media Awards for its new Bolt Spare Tire Lock that fits 1991- to current-model Jeep Wranglers.

The product features the company’s One-Key Lock Technology, which eliminates having to carry extra keys to access the spare tire’s security mechanism.

“We are committed to meeting the automotive aftermarket needs of drivers worldwide, and are proud that our Jeep Spare Tire Lock was recognized by two different international journalists and the SEMA organization,” says sales manager Erika Garcia.

“Our technology offers a solution for Jeep drivers, and works by permanently programming the lock to the Jeep’s ignition key to prevent problems with lost keys and costly lockouts,” she explains.

To use the device, insert the Jeep’s ignition key into the lock cylinder, turn once, and spring-loaded plate tumblers move up and down until they are matched exactly to that key. The auto-return spring automatically locks when the key is removed.

The locks have an automotive-grade lock shutter to keep out weather and debris plus a six-plate tumbler sidebar that prevents picking and bumping, according to Garcia.
