In the 28th annual running of the Tire Rack One Lap of America, 75 drivers will be competing in 18 stages at 10 locations while covering 3,500 miles in street legal high- performance cars – each running on the same set of tires throughout.

The series begins this weekend at Tire Rack’s headquarters in South Bend, Ind. The circuit encompasses racing at tracks Indiana, West Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, Louisiana, Alabama and Illinois.

According to the organizers, it highlights “endurance and vehicle preparation, as no support crews are allowed.”

The tires that are used on the street are the same ones that are raced on, with one set per team. Although scoring is based on performance at the race tracks, the vehicles and their drivers must also withstand more than 3,500 miles on the road while traveling from track to track as well.
