As the Los Angeles Angels celebrated the home opener of
its 50th anniversary season, each fan came away with a
free commemorative red t-shirt from
Nitto.
The front features the Angels’ official 50th
Anniversary logo; the back bears the names of all 853
Angels players, coaches and managers who have donned
the uniform since the club’s founding in 1961.
This is the second year of Nitto’s sponsorship, and the program
will include two other promotional giveaways during the
2011 season.
Nitto’s name will also appear in the Angels magazine
and on the scoreboard behind home plate.
“Nitto Tire is thrilled to be a proud sponsor of Angels
baseball during this golden anniversary season,” says
marketing representative Robin Howland.
“The Angels have provided countless memories to
generations of Southern Californians. We hope this T-
shirt and the names that adorn it will hold a special
place in the hearts of all Angels fans,” Howland adds,
noting that the company is based in the nearby town of
Cypress.
The Angels joined the Major League as an expansion team
in 1961 with “Singing Cowboy” Gene Autry as the club’s
owner.
From the team’s original home at Wrigley Field in South
L.A. to the move to Chavez Ravine and then to Anaheim,
the Halos clinched eight American League Western
Division championships, hosted the All-Star game three
times and won the World Series in 2002.
