Hankook has officially launched its new Ventus V2 Concept High Performance All-Season tire at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show.

It sports “a wide range of innovations that provide consumers an unmatched driving experience in all-season conditions,” the company reports.

One of those innovations is the tire’s patented “Twister System,” a 3D Wave Pattern Channel that forcibly removes water from the tire’s contact patch. “The exclusive design allows for impressive traction in wet conditions and helps to minimize the risk of hydroplaning.”

Hankook’s engineers also used a design tool called Suspension Performance Characterization during the tire’s development. The technology allowed engineers to optimize performance according to lean angles and directional movements during computer simulated usage. The end result is a tire that provides greater performance and control during cornering and braking, the company says.

Comfort wasn’t overlooked either: Through “exhaustive testing” using Radiation Noise Prediction technology, the engineers “were able to pinpoint and eliminate unwanted road noise from the design, providing a finished tire with a quieter ride.”

An All-Season High Performance Compound extends the tire’s treadlife and improves snow traction. The improvements allow it to match the performance capabilities of most summer tires, but with twice the winter traction, according to the company.

“We’re very proud and excited to debut our new Ventus V2 Concept Tire here at SEMA,” says said Todd Hershberger Sr., vice president at Hankook Tire America Corp. “This tire will implement a wide range of advancements that gives drivers more control and comfort as well as all season performance. It represents the ideal interaction between driver, vehicle and the road.”

Other features include:

  • Optimized Contact Patch: Improves driving comfort and stability. Also, prevents unusual abrasion.
  • Jointless Cap Ply: Improves uniformity for durability and a smoother ride.
  • Rim Protector: Provides better protection against outer shock and rim scratches.
  • Wide, High-Tensile Steel Belts: Improved tread life and better steering response.
  • Jointless Bead Wire & High Hardness Bead Filler: Improved high speed stability and helps to provide a more comfortable ride.
As with all new Hankook tires, it has been designed utilizing the company’s Kontrol Technology, which ensures that the tires are “optimized for performance, safety, comfort and their impact on the environment.”

The Ventus V2 Concept will be available throughout the U.S. in 22 sizes by Dec. 1.
