Vaughn Gittin Jr., driver of the Monster Energy/Falken Tire 2011 Ford Mustang, has clinched the 2010 Formula Drift championship after finishing second in the recent season- ending “Title Fight” at Toyota Speedway in Irwindale,

It was the 11th podium finish for Team Falken in seven Formula D races. The company’s pilots placed first in five of the seven events; three of them reached the top five in the final standings: Gittin, Daijiro Yoshihara and Darren McNamara.

“This was Junior’s year, plain and simple,” says Jonathan Bradford, Falken’s Drift Team supervisor, referring to Gittin. “There is a lot to be said about finishing on the podium six out of seven events this year,” he points out.

“It was a pleasure to be involved with a team that left everything on the track and drove with an all-in attitude,” according to Bradford. “We have successfully rewritten the record books and I would like to personally thank the fans that rooted for Falken throughout this unbelievable season.”

“On behalf of everyone at Falken Tire, we wish to express our best wishes to Vaughn,” adds marketing director Andrew Hoit. “This was a great season for Falken.” The tire maker entertained nearly 500 guests at the Irwindale season finale.

The company “has been a solid fixture” on the drifting circuit since 2003.
