With the Michigan State University Spartans posting a perfect 8-0 season thus far and fully in contention to clinch the Big 10 championship, Belle Tire is conducting a ticket giveaway contest for the Nov. 6 game in East Lansing against the University of Minnesota’s Golden Gophers.

Excitement over MSU’s undefeated record has been building at a fever pitch throughout the region.

“We’re ecstatic to offer the opportunity for some lucky fans to win Spartan football tickets,” says Don Barnes III, Belle’s market development director. “Thanks to the Spartan Sports Network and Michigan State University, the grand prize winner will experience some incredible pre-game activities.”

The top prize includes four tickets to the game plus free parking and a full compliment of “hospitality,” which includes a tour of Spartan Stadium and field access prior to the game.

Ten second-place winners will receive a pair of tickets to watch the Green and White take on the Maroon and Gold.

The business was established in 1922 by Sam Waze with a single location in Detroit named after his wife Belle. Their son Herb carried on with the company and was joined in the 1960s by Don Barnes Sr., who had been a salesman for Kelly Tire.

It remains a family business with a third generation of Barnes’ now on board. Currently there are more than 80 “hometown tire dealer” stores throughout Michigan and Ohio employing 1,200-plus workers.
